Gingerbread town

Yesterday we went in to town to visit the small Christmas marked in town. The rain was pouring down and by the time we got there we were very wet and a litte cold.

So we took a quick look around the marked and then went somewhere for a little Christmas lunch and then we went down to the Oil museum to have a look at the Gingerbread town.

The Gingerbread town is a lovely place to go have a look at the wonderful Gingerbread houses and installations that people have sent in for display.

Afterwards we took a look around the rest of the museum and then we took the bus home to avoid getting wet again.

The evening was spent shopping groceries, wrapping gifts and watching Love Actually as I had seen The Holiday the day before.

Today we had a slow morning, I had a friend come over with her kids to exchange some gifts and hang out a little bit.

Soon we will be heading out to a birthday party for a familiy member, so I don’t have to cook today either.

How are you spending your last weekend before Christmas?

  1. A gingerbread town? Looks great, and I bet it tastes good too. Here it’s all about last minute preparations (my wife just staggered downstairs with an armful of gifts she’s just wrapped). Have a great Christmas!

    1. It’s a tradition here in some towns of Norway to collect Gingerbread houses and show them off. Don’t know if I would eat them as they have been on public display for a while. Have a wonderful Christmas

    1. Thank you John. They are not eaten as they are out in public for over a month being coughed and sneezed on and such. Not to mention the dust. Rain is taking a little break for now so fingers crossed. Merry Christmas!

      1. Oh, well then let’s not eat them and say we didn’t ! Rain is better than snow in my book, the snow here stays high in the surrounding mountains where it belongs. 👍🏻😂

  2. What a magical time! Weather aside, you are getting the most out of the holiday! We are seeing friends, having dinner around New York,a nd enjoying the first snowfall of the season! Cheers!

      1. It really is! This entire town lights up spectacularly! My wife works at 30 Rock, where the massive tree is lit up and crowds pack that area with festive chaos!

  3. What a nice thing to do. Collect ginger bread houses like that. Beautiful ginger bread village 🙂
I wish you God jul och gott nytt år!

  4. This gingerbread town looks fantastic. There’s quite a few to look at, quite colourful and all decorated differently. I think if I were there, looking at it would make me hungry and I would want to eat some gingerbread biscuits. I’m not doing much. Baking some cookies for the week 🙂 Wishing you a wonderful Christmas and a great year ahead, Maja 🙂
