Summer Vacation Time!

Looking forward to enjoying food like this is Italy!

Looking forward to enjoying food like this is Italy!

It’s soon time for me to go on a summer vacation. This year I’m off to Tuscany Italy. A good friend of mine is getting married down there and we’re starting the vacation by attending. I’m really looking forward to enjoying the nice weather, lovely food, wine, good friends and warm sunny weather. After that we’re staying some time just relaxing just seeing what the days will bring of goodness. Warmth, sun, and relaxing is so needed right now.The flight doesn’t leave until Thursday evening, but I’ve been looking forward to this for so long I’ve been ready for quite some time and I’ve gone into holiday mode even it I still have a few days left at work. I’ve always wanted to go to Italy but I have never been there before now, so I’m extra excited about going. Especially since I have some ancestors that was from Italy.

So this weekend was supposed to be used for washing clothes and tidying the apartment, but it’s a slow process. Last night I was out with a friend for a few beers and enjoyed the fact that the temperature is finally getting comfortable here in the cold north. And as I am in vacation mode things are going quite slowly and I like it!

Social Butterfly

My head these days feels a bit like mush. I’m very much looking forward to the holidays. And I have high hopes that summer will finally arrive in Stavanger at some point this year so you don’t have to go out with a big coat and still be a bit cold. This week has been filled with a lot of neglected social duties. Duties might sound like a negative loaded word, but finding the time to see family and friends is hard sometimes. And every time I have to say no to someone who I don’t get a chance to see to often I get a bit guilty. A nice bi product of being social is often nice food. This week, as I said, I decided I needed to take the time to be a yes person. So on Tuesday I went to have cheese and crackers with the women at work. There was abundance of lovely cheeses and crackers and for dessert we had strawberries with vanilla sauce. We went to visit one of the girls and the view from her kitchen and living room was so stunning I had to take a photo.

Wednesday I was invited to my parents for dinner with them, my brother and my granddad. A family friend dropped in for dessert and coffee. Lovely salted cod with bacon-onion-butter sauce and potatoes and berries and a nice raspberry/blueberry cobbler for dessert.

Today I had a job interview and I met my mum in town and she treated me to lunch. I had a nice salad with chicken, tomatoes and avocado. I’m soon off to see some friends for a cup of coffee this evening. That would more than fill my social quota this week, so this weekend I’m spending with my dad at our summer-house. I’m hoping the rain can keep away for one weekend so I can get some much-needed house-painting done.

3 Quotes Challenge – 3rd and final day!

Hector Samson at The Power of Quantum Thinking has challenged me to post 3 quotes for three days. Challenge accepted! I thank you for thinking of me with this challenge and I hope I won’t let you down. I have decided to go for three quotes from famous Norwegians.

There are three simple rules:

1. Post 3 of your favourite quotes each per day for 3 recurrent days. The quotes can be of any other people or it may come straight from your own heart.

2. Nominate 3 bloggers with each post to challenge them.

3. Don’t forget to utter a thankful word to the person who nominated you

My third and final quote is from Thor Heyerdahl who was an explorer know for, among other things the Kon-tiki and Ra expeditions:

quote-those-who-have-experienced-the-most-have-suffered-so-much-that-they-have-ceased-to-hate-hate-is-thor-heyerdahl-84470

“Those who have experienced the most, have suffered so much that they have ceased to hate. Hate is more for those with a slightly guilty conscience, and who by chewing on old hate in times of peace wish to demonstrate how great they were during the war.”

Now for my nominees. I will not hold it against any of you should you choose not to accept the challenge I am a firm believer that you should only accept a challenge if it something you want to do not just because you feel like you should.

Beach Volley and being busy

I’ve been really busy lately. As I am in desperate need of a new job I’ve been applying for a lot of jobs lately and all the application writing takes up a lot of time and even more energy. Sadly my blogging has suffered and so has most other things. I have a lot of projects that I need to finish up so I hope I will find the time and energy soon.

Today I went to help my aunt do some work around the house. She had a an accident and was in need for some help and I’m in need of small odd jobs. I started there early in the morning and most of what was left of the day I spent outside in the sun, as it looked and felt like summer decided to join us at least for today.

There is a beach volley tournament going on in town these days SWATCH BEACH VOLLEYBALL MAJOR SERIES – STAVANGER MAJOR 2015 and there was plenty of people about.  The atmosphere was great and both tourists and us locals enjoyed the day and we’re hoping for good weather for the rest of the tournament.
