Summer Weekend

This weekend had been very nice! Friday I went to pick up my bike from my parents place and had dinner with my dad. Before I went out for drinks with some friends. Saturday morning was nice and slow. Went to Renaa by the library for breakfast.

Then I went to see an exhibition of young architects, under 40, at the library. It was very interesting and shoved how you can make sustainable eco-friendly choices in planning new urban or rural areas. There was also a focus on making houses and cottages that would go well with the surroundings.

After this there was some necessary shopping to be done and we met up with some friends for a coffee. The evening was spent watching the football matches between Brazil – Chile and Colombia – Uruguay. The games were both exiting and for the most part entertaining.

Sunday started of quite slow before it was decided to go for a cycling trip in the nice weather. It ended up being quite a long trip that took around three hours, but the sun was shining and it was lovely to be outside the whole day in the sunshine. After this we went for a Coca Cola down by the sea in Stavanger centum at Hansen Hjørnet.

Afterwards I went to practise driving with my dad. I have now installed myself in front of the TV, with a beer, to watch some football. Life truly is wonderful when you get weekends like this!

Hope your weekend has been as good as mine 🙂

Walking on Sunshine!

The weather was amazing so I went for a walk yesterday afternoon. Went over the bridge I can see from my house and over to Grasholmen, Engøy, Buøy and Hundvåg. As I said the weather was lovely, the sun was shining and it was very warm. This time of year it does not get dark out ‘till very late at night so we have the advantage of still having quite a bit of daylight after coming home from work.

There was very little wind yesterday and that made walking across the bridges much more enjoyable than it usually is because when the wind blows it’s not very plesant to walk over a bridge that crosses the sea.

Had it been a little earlier in the day when it was even warmer I might have stopped for a swim at Badedammen a cosy place to have a bath in the eastern part of Stavanger.

Weekend at Kjeksesvåg

This weekend I went for a little trip to our summer house at Kjeksevåg on Idse island. To me this is the most wonderful place on earth to go to relax and enjoy summer. I’ve been coming here since I was 3 months old and I hope I’ll be able to come out here and enjoy the place in many years to come. This island is not too far from our house, 25 minutes by boat and 1,5 hours if you drive. This makes it easy to go over and visit for a weekend, this weekend there was a bit of waiting for the ferry when we where going home, but we were not i a hurry so the waiting was filled with a nice ice-cream from the little kiosk at the quai.

The weather was sunny, but there was quite a bit of wind. It was lovely to be outside on the terrace, but down by the sea the wind was blowing so much that our planned bonfire for mid-summer celebrations had to be postponed.  But this did not matter much as I was in there to relax and I got to enjoy the sunshine, it did put me of going for a swim. I went for a few walks in the area around, read a little and enjoy a good football game between Ghana and Germany.

Football World Cup Brazil 2014

719px-WC-2014-Brasil.svg

The 2014 World Cup is over us and has been for a while. As most of you know or have realized I like sports. Watching it at least 😉 Football is my favorite sport among all the sports out there. So the football World Cup is really something I look forward to each time. And I count myself lucky that I do. There seems to be no escape from this event if you are somewhere where there is news and/or other people.

Norway did not qualify for this World Cup (as has been the case for quite some time), nor did any of the other Scandinavian teams. So in theory I don’t have any team to support, but there is great fun to be had in just watching good football. Now there are always a few teams you, for one reason or another, like better than others. There might be several reasons for this, like a connection to a country a fondness for certain players and other things. I will admit that this cup I don’t cheer for one particular team. I watch matches and usually know in advance who I want to win the game. But luckily I’m allowed to access every game individually and don’t have to choose one team before the tournament and hope they go all the way though, without being “unpatriotic” or a “bad neighbor”.

So there has been lots of action in this Cup already. Spain is out of the competition (they will of course play the last game in their group, but after having lost their first two games they will not move on from the first stage). As reigning champions and one of the favorites I guess it was expected of them to, at the very least, get past the first stage. But from what I’ve seen in the cup, them not going on to the knockout stages was deserved. Portugal has not looked their best, and with Pepe losing his head in the previous game ad getting a red card and the reports that Ronaldo might be injured things does not look the best for them. The team from Cameroon made sure that Pepe was not the only one who will be remembered for bad behaviour on the pitch this World Cup. One of their players was sent off for placing his elbow in the back of a player on the opposing team, Croatia. And right before the game was about to end, Benoit Assou-Ekotto gave a player on his own team a head-but. One might say that Cameroon entered the World Cup with a lot of talk about bonuses and not allowing their plane to take off for Brazil and goes home with the memory of other things than actual football from the pitch.

Brazil has not had the best start imaginable for a home team, but they will, in all likelihood, go on to the next stage and they might still win the cup. Despite having built down the expectations Germany looks strong and Belgium played a good game against Algeria. But the wonderful thing about football is that you can predict all you want. You never know exactly how a game is going to turn out until it is finished. Luckily I’m not an expert on any of this so predicting stuff like this is not something I have to do 🙂 I’m happy to just enjoy all the football and the wonderful atmosphere that surrounds the World Cup!

Back again

It’s been very quiet in here for quite a while now. This is mostly because there has been so much going on lately that, the blogging which previously helped me gather my thoughts and help me relax just seemed like just another load to my ever-growing list of things I should have done. But now, luckily things are calmer! It will probably take some time to get used to all the changes that has happened lately, but I feel like I’m on the right track. So now there is a big chance that I’ll be back to posting pointless rambles in here again. Since the last time I updated this thing I have, among other things:

1. Got a boyfriend
2. Got quite a few new friends
3. Changed jobs
4. Finally started on my driving lessons
5. Played a few concerts
6. Gotten another year older
7. Traveled to London with a friend, been skiing and been a few times at our summer-house

Went to London for easter :)

Then off to the Norwegian montains to ski.

8. Had my neighborhood covered in smoke because of a fire nearby

But now things are stabilizing and summer is here!
