I survived the 17th of May. All the marching, playing, the rain and sunshine. Even the part of the day where I was locked out of my apartment after being so tired I had returned the car and the keys to my home and got back with the keys to the car (luckily I got in after about an hours wait). Below are som photos from the big day:

The start of the day was so wet I was afraid to get the camera out

For the second parade in a tiny place called Gjesdal the sun was shining. And the view was lovely. There is never many people watching the parade there because almost everyone is in it.

The third parade is the one furthest away, there was a combination of sunshine and rain, so you both got wet from the rain and from th jacket getting a bit clammy. But fantastic scenery and people were so grateful we came.

Forth parade was in Oltedal the valley with its own “Hollywood sign” if you look closely you can see it on the hillside.

Then it was of to eat in Kongeparken, an amusement park in Ålgård. We ate and had a small parade in the park.

Last on the programme was a small parade on to the new football stadion in Ålgård, but by now it was raining so much I didn’t want to get my phone wet, so no photos.

Looks like a fun day to me.
It was ok, but it’s very noisy, busy, crowded, tiering and extremely exhausting!
At least you got ice cream to sooth your tired lips.
Yepp, it was nice! Today I looked like I had a lip filler done or something.
Quick, time for duck face selfies on Twitter.
Darn, why didn’t I think of that. Swelling is down too much now 😉
Looks like a fantastic (but tiring!) day. Is that trumpet you play, madam?
It really was. That is a cornet. It’s quite closely related to the trumpet but it’s more compact and has a rounder/softer sound.
Sweet! I thought it could be, but I so can’t tell the differences between the two.
Hehe, most people can’t till you get them next to each other.
Why do fun things end up being so tiring? I like holidays where I get to stay home and rest. Sorry to hear you got locked out. That would be the icing on a bad cake. 😦
I don’t know why they do. It shouldn’t be like that I think, but such is. I do enjoy a relaxing holiday myself. Thank you for the sympathy it really wasn’t any fun at all.
What a busy exhausting day! A lovely tradition but I wish the weather could have been kinder for you all. Also you take part in so many event it seems you do’t get a real chance to enjoy the festivities yourself. I like the ‘Hollywood’ style sign.
You are very right the worst thing is missing out on all the festivities with family and friends.
Looks like a fun day, a bit wet, but with an ice cream as a treat it can’t get better. Came over here from OM’s Meet&Greet…
The “rule” is, mostly for the kids, that this is the day you get to eat as much ice cream as you can. So only having time for one isn’t so good. But it was a very nice one. Thank you for stopping by 🙂
Sure 🙂
I can appreciate how exhausting it must have been but it does look like it was fun!
It’s very exhusting and you are too busy to enjoy most of the time, but it is fun in parts. And it’s nice to see how much it means to people that we come to their parade to play for them!
Absolutely!
