Now that a lot of restrictions with Covid-19 has been lifted it is time to get used to travelling again. It feels a bit strange to me to go on a plane again after everything, but it is also about time for us to get back to visiting family and friends. So, this Easter’s visit to Ireland was something I was very much looking forward to. Easter Wednesday is only a half day at work in Norway and I was able to work from home this day and that was very handy.
We had heard rumors that things might take a little longer at the airport after opening up for more traffic, so we had a friend drive us there early. Just as we arrived and headed towards departures there was a stream of people coming towards us and we assumed that there were quite a few planes that had landed about the same time. Then we noticed the police cars, fire trucks and Ambulances. And someone told us that the whole airport had been evacuated. We waited outside and I began to make some plans in case we did not make our connecting flight in Amsterdam, while reading the news of what was happening inside at the airport.

It turned out that someone had left some chargers and other wires inside a book and at the security desk they thought it might be an IED. We were let back inside and there were very long queues to check in luggage and to go through security, but all in all it went quite smoothly. We had time for a light bite to eat before the flight and it took off on time, so we were able to get our our connecting flight without any trouble.
We arrived at Dublin Airport late at night and got to the hotel by the airport, where we were staying the night, and I fell asleep almost before my head hit the pillow. We got up the next morning, had a good breakfast and picked up our rental car. We had a little visit and some errands penciled in for the day before we started our journey to the West of Ireland to enjoy a couple of days there.
Hope you all had a good Easter break.

Nothing like a little extra added excitement when you are trying to get somewhere. Glad you made it OK. Stay well. Allan
Thank you Allan. All is well that ends well I suppose.
How lovely to be visiting the west of Ireland. Look forward to reading more.
It is always lovely to go there 🙂
Wow, I’m glad that nothing happened at the airport! What a world we live in today… Have a great day, Maja!
I am glad to. Hope your day is great and that you*ll have a wonderful weekend.
Thank you, Maja, and to you too! ❤️
I just travelled as well and with the restrictions still in place it makes for a more anxious experience, but worth it to get to cool places!
That is very true. I did not experience too many restrictions, but one can notice that they had to get a lot of new staff and has not had the time to give them enough training. I do feel sorry for a lot of them.
Great point!
We are heading to Ireland next month, I can’t wait to hear about the rest of your trip!
How nice, where in Ireland are you going?
We start off in Belfast and are going the long way around the island to Dublin.
Sounds like a great trip!
