We arrived in Tuam in county Galway late in the afternoon on Thursday and had a neighbor call over for a cup of tea to welcome us. We had little time to settle in because we were going out to meet some friends out for a lovely meal at a restaurant called Crè Na Cille, literally meaning Earth of the Church or Graveyard clay. It is also the name of one of the most famous books written in the Irish language, I must admit I have not read it. The food wonderful, I went with their duck, and it was both lovely tasting and very filling. It was amazing to be able to be out and about with good people again. After the meal we got a few drinks at some of the local pubs. We got home a bit later than planned, but it was a very good night out.
The next day got of to a bit of a slow start, we had a lazy breakfast before we helped a friend with some errands, as she does not have a car and we had one. Then I had a nice stroll around town and some nice coffee. In the afternoon we called out to the house of some friends for a couple of visits. We had a great easy pizza dinner before going back to the house for a quiet night.
I woke up on Saturday with my nose a bit blocked, I originally thought that it was just allergies, but the evening showed it was a nasty cold. I managed to do a small walk around in the park before I got too blocked up. We travelled on to a friend of ours in the evening and I was not feeling so great. We had dinner and watched a movie, but I had to call it a night early and I struggled to breath when I was going to bed because of my blocked nose.

It was a bit odd to have such a bad cold as I have hardly had one in two years, but I am sure I will get used to them again soon.

It’s a lovely place Ireland, some are still writing some series of fiction books about it..a cold and a blocked nose shouldn’t hold you from strolling or walking around the place and boosting your energy 😉..enjoy your Easter stay 👍😊
Thank you, I did enjoy. It was more the fever and fatigue that held me back. But luckilly that did not last too long
Well, that’s nice 👍
Lovely photos, I had a cold recently too for the first time in ages.
Thank you. I guess we just have to get used to the colds and such again now.
Colds, flu and other nasties are on the increase since covid restrictions lifted and mask wearing no longer mandatory, Maja 🤗❤️🤗
Yupp, but we managed them before and will get used to them again.
Always great to be in Ireland. Too bad about the cold. With all the precautions over the last 2 years, nature is trying to help us catch up with regular afflictions. Stay well Maja. Allan
Thank you Allan, hope you have a great weekend
Lovely pics and I’m glad you had a good time in Ireland despite the cold. Am going to Bristol soon and am sooo looking forward to being surrounded by English again. The language, the people, tea time … can’t wait for your next post about your trip!
Thank you. Sounds like you have something lovely to look forward too
Visited beautiful places and hope had a great weekend. I appreciate your each and every words that you share in blog.
Thank you I had a lovely time

A fun getaway – and yes, the idea of the “common cold” has been foreign to us for more than two years now!
Thank you, it was!
I was lucky enough to visit Tuan area in a visit awhile ago. It is absolutely lovely.
It really is. I might be biased as I have many friends and family in Tuam 😉
