After we had dropped off our luggage in the hotel, we got back in the car to meet up with family for a walk in the woods. It was only a 20-minute drive from where we were staying so we did not have to drive for long. As I had a cold, they had just had a cold and the dog needed a walk, a walk in the nice sunshine sounded like the best idea for all.

We met up at the car park of Knocksink Woods, a national nature reserve located in the valley of the Glencullen River in County Wicklow, Ireland, near the nice little village of Enniskerry. It is managed by the Irish National Parks & Wildlife Service. The woods were legally protected as a national reserve by the Irish government in 1994. Knocksink Wood has the most diverse woodland invertebrate fauna recorded in Ireland, with several animals specific to wet woodland that are of threatened status in the EU.

We had to give the kids the Easter eggs and other candy that we had brought for them. And we got some cake that they had made for us. After the exchange we went for a lovely walk around in the woods. The kids and the dog were climbing and wading in the river, but we opted to keep on the paths and trails to not get to wet.

After our walk we took a trip to Powerscourt for a little lunch. We got a lovely pizza from a little food truck that was in the courtyard and some nice teas and coffees. I had been wanting to go there for some time, but by the time we had finished our walk in the woods, the rain had started to come down and it was quite late in the day. So, we enjoyed our lunch and decided to go back another day, as it was forecasted to get sunnier later in the week.
We drove back to check in to the hotel and went out to eat and experienced how covid had made things a bit hard for some restaurants because they were not able to get enough staff to make sure the costumers had a good time going out to eat. And then it was another early night for the sniffly one.
