I have written a bit about comming back from a blogging break that was a bit longer than planned. The main reason the break got extended is that I had a baby. She is now neaely 16 months and seem to be doing even better than one could hope.
At the start of the pregnancy I was incredibly tired, cold and extremely nausious. This being quite normal I thought I had just gotten it a little worse than most. But after having fainted a couple of times and with a blood pressure slightly elevated my doctor put me on strict rest. This was likely to last this first trimester. But it did not pass until I got to try a medication that only just was approved in Norway, after having been in use elsewhere a while. This made it so that I felt loads better and could work 50% and even travel to Ireland for easter. As long as I went for check ups at least once a week.

Then on a routine check at the midwife my blood pressure was so high I got sent directly to the hospital. I was diagnosed with preeclampsia and had to stay at the hospital for 3 weeks with loads of medication and monitoring. And then I had an emergency c-section in week 29. We stayed at the hospital a while in NICU.
I will not be sharing too much about Ickle Pickle here, but to us she is perfect.

Congratulations, babies are the best news to share. My daughter was born at 32 weeks and we had to spend a month in the NICU. The NICU is a very stressful place to be. So glad you and baby are fine now and I bet she is so beautiful.
Thank you. Our NICU was really good and the people working there were amazing
They are always so kind in the NICU. There were volunteers there that made tiny clothes for the babies and beautiful blankets too.
We got that too! She still have some blankets from time. We saved them all
Be safe ok
Thank you
I had a very strong feeling that it might have been that which kept you away for so long. You had just moved and fixed up a larger cozy home when you left and it felt like you were nesting or preparing to do so. I’m sorry you had such a hard time with this pregnancy. I’m sure it was worth every second of it and delighted you had good care. I loved seeing the photo of those toes even if they weren’t your baby’s. Congratulations to you and your partner. Glad you are feeling better.
Thank you very much Marlene. She is a very welcome addition to the family
God bless you and your perfect baby girl🙏🏻💕.

Oh, no! Mas what a traumatic experience. I hope you both are doing well now. “Ickle Pickle” is an adorable nickname. I haven’t heard that one. Congratulations on your little one. Hugs.
Thank you Teagan, we are doing ok 🙂
You say “I got to try a medication that only just was approved in Norway”. Does that mean you live in Norway? We were just there. I am originally from Sweden and we took a 10 day vacation to Sweden and Norway. In Norway we visited Oslo and we did a cruise on Sognefjord. Congratulations on your baby.
Thank you. Yes, I live in Stavanger Norway. Where in Sweden are you from?
I am originally from Örnsköldsvik, Norrland, but I live in Dallas, Texas.
That is quite a long way from home!
Yes you are right. I can’t visit too often. About every second year.
‘…Ickle Pickle…’ Love it. 😀
❤️
Congratulations 🎉 It is something to celebrate when you finally get to take your van home from NICU. After almost 4 months of NICU then “level 2” pediatric care, we got to bring our only child home. She was on oxygen and a heart monitor and she was finally ours. There’s a lot to say about that. 11 years later and I’m crying writing this. I’m not sure if I ever processed all the stress and emotions. I just got up each day and did what I had to, pushing down the hardships.
You are not alone. Keep writing when you can to help work through all the nuances of new motherhood and we’ll be here 🌻
Thank you for your kind words. You are not alone either, Hope all is ok with your child. We were very lucky, but the emotional stress is absolutely something I can relate to!
