A few weeks ago we had a lovely family holiday to Crete. All we wanted was a week in a warmer climate where we could relax and enjoy as lazy a time as you can with a toddler. We chose to go in late May as the temperatures are better that in high summer and as it is a lot cheaper to bring a child under two than over. We are not looking for any big adventures or a lot of new things on a week like this, so we are almost always back to the same hotel and the same spot, but we really enjoy it there.

The weather could have been nicer, but it was warm and mostly sunny and a little overast. We had some rain nd got to witness first hand the phenomenon of the rain containing sand from the Sahara dessert and covering everything in wet sand. It was quite weird to see. But the Cretans was quick to wash it away from the sunbeds and pool.

The food and drink we enjoyed on the trip was really lovely, and Ickle Pickle found many new friends to play with at the hotel. She was mostly taken with all the “babies” even if they where the same size as her she was very keen on meeting them and we had a daily routine of looking for babies to say hi to at every meal.

Here are some of my previous posts from the same spot in Crete:

Holiday to Crete part 2: Agia Marina

I got to rest a good bit and enjoy some sunshine and we had a little spot just outside our place, that was close to the bar. That we could enjoy some evenings with the baby monitor on. The only downside was that the mosquitos was also keen on hanging out around us in the evening.

Back home we have been quite busy with work, illness (nothing serious) and birthday party for Ickle Pickle that has now turned two (I have no idea how that happened, feels like she just arrived)! I hope that, now that it is soon time for everyone in the office to start taking their vacation time, that things will calm down a little bit.

Hope you are doing well and that summer is treating you good. I hope to be back posting a little more often now, but life have a way of throwing you curveballs.

I remember striving for the old normal adult time after having our little ones. Every little success felt like a victory. Adult time is important and have consistency of location for Ickle Pickle was a great idea. Have a good week. Allan
Thank you Allan. And you are very right in what you say!
Lovely.
Thank you, it was!
The pool and the view are delightful! Two years old already? It goes fast, Maja, my son and daughter are in their 30s!
Looks like a wonderful trip.
Beautiful Peaceful View Magausten! Hope you had a splendid weekend! I always pray that friends are always happy and blessed.💐
Thank you, we did! And I hope the same is true for you
Sounds like a much-needed relaxing break
Thank you, it was!
Wonderful photos and so exciting to hav your vacations enhanced with a little one – all new adventures through their eyes!
Thank you, that is very true.
Nice pic
Thank you!
Idyllic for a vacation!
Thank you, I very much agree
That looks like a nice place. Great photos. We’ve been to Crete as well but it was a long time ago, when our oldest son was one and a half years old (in 1995).
Thank you, we always enjoy 🙂
👍
Ickle Pickle sounds so friendly and adorable. It’s a nice beach. Your summer looks fantastic, Masgautsen.
She usually is, but she can hold her own, so I would not like to mess with her. She is nicer to the smaller kids than the older ones. We love going there to relax and enjoy. My summer is going well. Hope yours is too!
We are now on wet season. Thank you so much, Masgautsen. Hugs to ickle Pickle
We used to live for nearly a year in Crete and Ithacy. It was okay when the tourists were gone. We didn’t like the climate, too hot and sunny. We were happy when we could leave again for a country that’s much more to our taste (Northern Sweden).
We can imagine that’s ideal with a toddler.
All the best

🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂
Thank you, it would have been great to live there for a year, but I would have gone back to Norway for summer!
Looks fun!
Thank you, it was!
Wow, rain with sand? Didn’t it hurt your eyes? Thank you for sharing this amazing story from Crete, now I know there’s a beautiful beach near the Sahara! 😍
It did not get in my eyes, but I imagine it would hurt. Itbis not very close to the Sahara so the sand travels far!
I really love this
Thank you, so did I!
