Gladmat 2025

Every year, in my town, we have a food festival called Gladmat (meaning happy food). It is not only the seagulls that love this festival, with a lot of different restaurants or other food providers having food stalls and offering different dishes.

Lightly seared trout with roe

This year I went a couple times, we had a “walk and talk” extended lunch with work, as I work close by. And the next day I went to a different part to pick up a few small dishes in my lunch break. These are some of the top perks of working in the city center.

Locally made cola

On the Saturday, the weather was a lot better than forecasted with ok temperatures and only a little bit bit of rain. We took my mother to have a good few hours enjoying the nice food and meeting a lot of people that were also taking advantage of what the festival had to offer.

Salmon cervice

All in all, we had a very good time, tasted a lot of really good food and got to enjoy the company of family and good colleagues and I got to meet a lot of people I don’t see very often. Ickle Pickle was great at tasting everything, but the Ice cream she had was the one that got the most enthusiasm, but a nice trout dish, a mushroom soup and strawberries were also up there.

Kiwi beer

For me, I also liked the trout and soup. A wonderful lobster ravioli, a great pizza with porchetta and pear compote, some lovely scallops, a great salmon and some good beers and ciders were high on the list. And of course, some of the sweet treats were also great, like the home-made fudge.

Our weekend here have been amazing. How has your weekend treated you?

    1. It has been very hot and a little humid here too, but we spent most of the weekend at the beach! We might get thunder showes soon, so It was nice to enjoy it while it lasts!

  1. Looks like a good chance to try new foods and socialize Maja. We have several food festivals here, as well. When I worked downtown, I would always go for lunch at Taste of Edmonton for the 10 day festival. Never cheap, but a good experience. Happy Monday. Allan

  2. That looks like amazing food. I always like to try new things. When you no longer have to go to work, every day is Saturday or Sunday. 🙂 It’s why I try to join creative groups during the week to make them stand out.

  3. This looks delicious! It makes me think I should get out more often.

My weekend has been busy, we went out to the countryside and visited our parents, and then Sunday was a day for relaxing and sleep.

Wishing you a great week ahead! ❤️

  4. Hi Maja
The food looks good, just our kind of food. But the drink? We are sceptical.
We had the end of a classical music festival in our church with famous artists. Hanne-Dina and I went to this concert (we have been to nearly all the concerts as Hanne-Dina was photographing there).
Here it was hot but bearable in the evening when the concert took place.
We wish you a happy week

    1. Sounds like you had a good time. And the festival sounds really great. Classical music in a church is wonderful. The drink was a lot better than it looked!

  5. There’s something special about festivals that centre around food — it’s such an easy way to connect with people and a place. Gladmat looks like it captures that perfectly.
