Ølberg beach

At the moment the rain is really pouring down outside here now, but lately we have had really great weather. And we took the opportunity to make quite a few visits to a beach close by called Ølberg. I spent a lot of time there when I was young because my grandmother had a little summerhouse there. It is only about 15 minutes’ drive from our house, so it is not a long journey. And it has always been a place I have been quite fond of.

We went after work and kindergarten and spent a full day there on a weekend. It was too warm to hang out at home, and it was a little better by the sea. Some days there was even quite a bit of fog there, but it was still lovely and warm. But the water was a little cold, we still had to go in for a few dips to cool down.

Ickle Pickle loved running, splashing in the water and playing in the sand. We went to have a look at some small crabs, some of the other children had caught. There were a few stinging jellyfish, but they were easy to avoid, and we did not get stung. Some kids and their parents spent a lot of time building sandcastles.

They have a little kiosk and restaurant there so, we got our dinner there a couple of days. It was nice and great to not have to do any cooking late in the evening when we got home. And to Ickle Pickle’s great delight we got ice cream too.  Summer is a wonderful season for the little ones, and it is so great to get to see the looks on their faces when they enjoy.

I am starting to really look forward to having a week’s vacation after this work week. My plan is to go to our summerhouse for a bit and later we are all going to Legoland and Lalandia in Denmark.

What are you doing on your summer holiday?

  1. I love to see beaches everywhere. I have been swimming in the sea a few times and am lucky to have a beach hut; it is only six foot by six foot, but enough room to get changed in and have a camping stove. Summer so far is staying here and having various visitors.
