One of Ickle Pickles favourite things to do at the moment is to chase ducks. She picks up a little grass that she thinks they would like to eat and walks after them saying “yum-yum” and get’s a little upset when they don’t want it. She is thrilled when we bring a little treat for them that she can throw for them. We have a lot of ducks close by here as we live just by a lake where there live quite a few of them.
I also used to enjoy feeding the ducks when I was little, and we sometimes got a pair of ducks living at the playground just outside our house. Before Ickle Pickle came along I didn’t notice the ducks too much as I was passing them, since I was a child. There is something nostalgic seeing the joy in the child’s eyes when the ducks are eating the food she provided for them, and the persistance in trying to get them to take her offerings when she wants to give them grass. It is an oddly satisfying thing to do, to chase the ducks, so far she had not got too close to one.

I remember going to the local lake with my grandfather and feeding the ducks. It was fun and relaxing.

That is a beautiful photo. Feeding ducks is fun for kids. A lot of people give them bread, which isn’t great, but there are duck treats you can buy that’s healthy for them.
Thank you. Seeing as she got so interested in them, we got some treats. The bread is not too god for them and if people leave too much the rats show up…
