After breakfast in Geilo, it was time to get back in to the car for a new long day of driving and so many new sights. Our first destination was the mountain plateau Hardangervidda. It is Europe’s largest mountain plateau and the largest national park in the Nordic countries.

Hardangervidda covers an area of about 6,500 km2 (2,500 sq mi) at an average elevation of 1,100 metres (3,600 ft). One of Norway’s largest glacier’s Hardangerjøkulen is here. The area is very good for hiking, but we did not have the time to go for a long hike in the area here, but on several occasions we had to stop the car and go out and enjoy the lovely nature.

The road that goes across the plateau is a national tourist road and is a lovely place to drive. And if I was not the one doing the driving I would have taken so many photos. We did not see any of the many reindeer that reside in the area, but we did see a lot of nature.
