Still here

It has been a bit quiet in here lately, but I am not gone in any way. As you all know December can be a bit busy, and it so happens that being busy with Christmas and stuff is not enough. Work is very busy, but not too bad, yet. And of course it is the season for colds, flus and tummy bugs. We have had a few little visits from them, hopefully they will now leave us alone till the new year, but I am not counting on it. In addition we also had a leak in our house recently, a bad thing never comes alone and all that.

But is it not all bad things and stress. Last weekend myself and Ickle Pickle spent at my mums house to let Daddy finaly get some stuff done in the house that needed a bit of time and help from is friends. We had a nice chilled weekend that ended with a lot of our family comming over on Sunday to make some Christmas cookies. And the weekend before we finally made some time to meet up with some of my friends that I had not seen in way too long and we enjoyed a lovely meal and a good chat.

I am getting close to finishing all the gifts that needed getting for Christmas and for all the birthdays that seem to be happening in December and I am going to send out and deliver our Christmas cards that has arrived. These are things I reall enjoy about December. Even if it is busy and a lot is happening I get to see so much more of my family and friends at this time of year. And I am very lucky to have a good bunch of each. I start early finding gifts, but there are always some small things that needs finishing and I enjoy all of it, apart from the wrapping. Walking in the shops in the evening and all the nice lights and decorations everywhere does lift my mood a lot. It is very dark here in winter, but in December all the lights just make it cosy.

Hope you are all doing well and is getting in to the Christmas spirit or if Christmas is not for you, I hope you are enjoying the last month of the year with someone or something dear to you. How is December treating you so far?

  1. Halibut! Yay! I love that fish. (Not romantically of course, that would be… well… 🙂 ) Over here in the Netherlands we just had our present-giving feast of Sinterklaas, or more formal Saint Nicholas. He was a bishop from Myra, now in Turkey, who gifted things to the poor. Long time ago. We celebrate his birthday on the fifth of december after he arived by steamboat from his summer dwelling in Spain, as the tale goes. He is here for two weeks, putting sweets and little presents in childrens shoes, and on the fifth we get the real goodies after singing songs about the Sint on the roofs of our houses lowering presents through the chimneys. He may be old but he still in a good shape! Father Christmas, or Santa Claus, is an offspring of this Saint Nicholas. Anyway, he has dissapeared into oblivion now and we are going to prepare ourselves for christmas, trees and food and all that, but no presents because, well, we got someone else for that. 🙂 I wish you a great christmas Masgautsen!

    1. I love to eat fish too and Halibut is on the list of favourits. When I was in primary school here in Norway we had a small Ducth school in our building, with the children of the Dutch oil workers and every year we got a visit from Sinterklaas, his horse and helpers. It was always great fun and he brought little treats. In kindergarden he used to come put a little toy and a little treat in our slippers.

  2. The Halibut looks delicious, Maja! It’s also nice when Christmas is over too and we can begin to wind down a bit. Be well! 🙏🏻😊

  3. First, that is a gorgeous presentation of that Halibut. I love that fish (growing up in Seattle, where it is plentiful), and yes, the month is speeding along with shopping, travel planning etc. Glad to know that you were able to get some work down at the house – I did the same thing in November!

    1. Thank you. The month is speeding along really fast. And Hallibut is one of my favourit fish. I love to eat fish at good resturants it is usually done better than I would have made it
