Danmark 2025 – Legoland

Park entrance

Our main reason for going to Denmark this holiday was to meet up with and have fun with family. And especially for the kids to have some fun. The two-year-olds might not have memories from this to last them a lifetime, but hopefully the older kids will remember. And the little ones will also get to know their family better and have some fun.

Safari ride

When I was a child, we went to Denmark a couple of times and on two occasions, I was lucky enough to get to go to Legoland. Once with my grandparents as a five-year-old and once when I was 11, with my parents and brother. I really enjoyed the experience. And it was fun to see how much it had changed, but also how some things were the same.

Boat ride

We arrived in Denmark a little before the others, so we decided to have two days in Legoland. One day just for the three of us and one day with everyone. The first day, when we were there alone, it was really warm. The sun was blaring, and it was nearly a little too warm for an amusement park at times.

Buildings in Lego

So, in addition to exploring the park and doing the little rides that were suitable for Ickle Pickle, we made sure to get as many water-based activities in as possible. And we made sure to drink plenty of water and have ice cream breaks.

Apart from the rides, what I remember from going to Legoland as a child was to look at the wonderful things they had built from Lego. Some of the old things were still there, but there was so much more now, and it was still nice to have a look at all of it.

There were many places to eat in the park, but I must say that the culinary experience was not the highlight of the trip.

Going for a ride on the train that takes you around all the buildings and a good bit of the park was so nice that we did it both days. All of us enjoyed the little boat ride that let us see many of the world’s greatest buildings in Lego. Ickle Pickle was very happy that she got to drive the boat herself.

As it was a lot warmer and sunnier than anticipated, we ran out of sunscreen, but luckily, they had some in one of the shops. Apart from sunscreen we got a little keychain figure with lights, a fridge magnet and a hat for Ickle Pickle and a few cups from beverages we bought in the park. It would have been a lot more expensive if we were to buy any of the Lego. So, when we go back another time Pickles will need to save up if she wants anything.

There were many places to eat in the park, but I must say that the culinary experience was not the highlight of the trip. The ice cream was very tasty!

We got into the park as they opened in the morning and stayed until late afternoon, when our family’s plane came in, so that we could meet them and spend some time together before bedtime. It was a warm long day, but a really good one, both for adults and kids.

I hope the weekend will be good for all of you! We don’t have many plans this weekend. Do you?

  1. So much fun, but a hot day with little shade does make it a bit less enjoyable at times…and sorry the food was bad there – that’s also an important aspect as you are held captive to what they sell! This weekend we are seeing friend for a great meal in the west village of New York and Sunday will be a long long walk in Central Park…weather will be 80 so it’s great that there is plentiful hade there! Cheers!

    1. Thank you, the food was not bad. We had ok food. But not fancy and really good. Mostly hot dogs, pizza and other fast food. Sounds like you have a great weekend planned. Great food and a walk in lovely scenary!

  2. I’m sure the children all enjoyed that trip. It’s beautiful. My parents went to Denmark once. We children were not invited. 😉 I’m doing the same this weekend as every weekend. I start on Friday for the Cleaner that comes Saturday morning, Then off to coffee with neighbors from old apartment and back home to try and work on the multitude of projects waiting. Only 104 days till Christmas and much to finish. 🙂 Glad you got to meet up with family. So important.

  3. Wow, these folks put a lot of time and love into building the town, it’s amazing!! I’m glad that you and the family had a great time, Maja. Have a great weekend! 😊❤️

      1. One of my sons who is in his 40’s still loves and builds with Legos. When he was growing up the floor in his room was always filled with Legos.

  4. What a wonderful family adventure at Legoland! I loved reading how excited the little ones were—especially the moment when “Ickle Pickle got to drive the boat herself” (that’s such a sweet detail!). The nostalgic comparison from your own childhood visits (at ages five and eleven) really shines through ― it’s so heartwarming to see how much has changed, and yet how much stays delightfully familiar. And those refreshing water rides and ice cream stops on a hot day? Absolutely smart moves!

Thanks for sharing your lovely memories—it’s inspiring to hear how you balanced fun, family time, and a touch of nostalgia. I hope your weekend was just as joyful!
