Winter Wonderland

The wind has stoped and there is snow and sun. What a better combination to set to in the right spirit for christmas. yesterday I babysat for my cousin’s son and as I walked home in the middle of the night (de to som delays in air traffic) I enjoyed the snow. Even if it was blowing in my face. Mainly because of the fact that the snow made everything so bright.

Blowing in the wind

As some of you might recall from a previous post I’m no big fan of storms. This time it has hit my part of Norway. The airport has been closed earlier, roofs has blown off, ferries were cancelled. I know people who has had the pans fly off their roof and someone had their greenhouse partly blow away. And the police were closed the roads in the city centre very close to where I live, because of large thing blowing from roofs. This made it a bit scary to walk home from the bus, that had to stop before my stop due to the roads being closed. So when I got home I listened to the police and stayed indoors.

I was supposed to play a christmas concert today. But someone in the band heard on the local radio that our concert was cancelled. The thing was that at that time no-one in the band knew it was cancelled, because none of us had called it in. After this we decided that it was probably for the best just cancel the concert. So how this thing came on the radio before someone had actually made the decision is still a mystery.

The storm is lasting at least till tomorrow morning, so far the only good thing (as I see it) is that there has not come as much snow as anticipated *knock on wood* I’ve lighted some candles and decorated with some of the things I got in my Christmas calendar. So now I’ll just continue to lay on my couch, under a blanket, hoping this will blow over soon.

Cosy inside.

Surprising my Granddad

Today I’ve been helping out with our christmas gift to my granddad. As he is on holiday we decided to clean his apartment and help him redecorate his bathroom. As he is ow 80 years old it is much more practical for him to have a shower than having him climb into the bathtub everyday. He’s been saying he want to change it, but he’s never gotten round to it. So his children and some of his grandkids decided it was a nice gift for a man who never has a single wish for Christmas. I hope he will enjoy it when he comes home.

First Sunday of advent part 2

This afternoon I went down to ser the Mayor of Stavanger light the christmas tree. This is something we always used to do when I was a child. We used to eat out frist and then we would get gingerbread figures. This year I choose the smallest, a gingerbread face 🙂 It was tasty and of course I appreciate the pink frosting.

There where, as usual, choirs singing on stage, the salvation army band played carols, the Mayor lit the lights and all the people was singing and those who wanted did so while walking around the tree. Sadly I did not get a good picture of the tree, but the one below will at least give you an idea.

The park in town looks a treat as well. I’ll post some pictures once I find the time to take them.

First sunday of advent

As some of you have probably noticed I really like Christmassy stuff. Today is the first sunday of advent and the first of December. So now it’s really beginning to look a lot like Christmas 🙂 Yesterday I got the first Christmas card of the year and I’ve put it on my fridge.

As today is the 1st of December I got to open the first present in my calendar. Christmas a lot about traditions and luckily the first gift in the calendar is a new calendar with chances to win.

1st gift of the calendar!

1st gift of the calendar!

As it was a nice party yesterday I’m feeling a bit tired today, but I’m going to go see the Christmas tree in town being lit. And I’m really looking forward to it as it was something I used to love as a child.
