1 Light a fire
If you have a fireplace and it’s windy and stormy out it is a very good source of heating the house. I love the smell of the burning wood and I can sit in from of the fireplace quite mesmerized by the way the flames dance around inside the fireplace. Just make sure that you are careful and watch out so that you don’t start a fire somewhere else than inside the fireplace.

2. Go for a walk in the woods
I find it very enjoyable to take a walk in the woods in all seasons. The charm of a walk in the woods in autumn is to see the lovely colours that nature has to offer. See if you can find some nice berries and mushroom (be sure you only pick the non toxic ones) that you can use to make nice food when you come home. If the rain is not pouring, the temperature is usually very nice for going walking as it’s not too hot or too cold!

3 Light candles, curl up on the couch with a nice cup of tea
When the weather outside is mostly stormy and very wet. What is better than to curl up on the couch with a blanket, a good book and a nice cup of tea? In Norway we have an extreme fondness of candles and I find it very cosy to light a few when the storm is raging outside.

All enjoyable!
Very much so!
I’m jealous of your fireplace and woods! I don’t have either of those near by BUT I’m thinking you’re right about the candles, some tea and a good book. I’m currently reading a GREAT one so I might have to make this happen sometime this weekend. 🙂
Sounds like a great plan! What book are you reading?
Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. It’s SO GOOD so far! 🙂
Great books are really treasures!
Lighting candles and a fire are my favourites! Me too, I love the smell of the wood….And it’s so relaxing!
It really is wonderful!
Yes, it is! 🙂
I love doing all three of these things in the fall! It’s my favorite time of year!
I think every season has it’s charm and gives you the oppurtunity to do nice seasonal things.
That is true!
Your autumns are colder than ours. Still don’t have the heat on. No fireplace in this house and really miss one. A cup of tea is always nice and a candle if you can stay put for awhile. I like that I can stay indoors more now. Going through old photos and getting nostalgic. Enjoy your autumn, every minute of it. Hope the new job is still going well.
The new job is very good still AMD i
Sorry, on the phone and pressed wrong button. Job is still good. Nice people and interesting work. A bit out of it here as there was a car crash just outside my window right now. Police and firemenn clearing the road… Hope you’re well!
I have a gas fireplace–pretty to look at but not much heat. I often think of having a wood-stove installed, but rules are strict about when you can light them here. They cause air pollution.
Woods and blackberries–I have my own. Wild blackberries are a pest that are hard to kill! I always fight them.
No candles lighted here in a “cat” house!!!
I wouldn’t want to many blackberries on my property, bit they are nice in the wild. Lighting candles with pets sounds a bit hazardous. Might want to give them a miss.
This truly is my favorite time of the year.
It is a good time!
LOVE fall! Wish you were in NYC to see our beautiful leaves change!
I sure would like to see that.

Love candles in Autumn too! Do Norwegians have a similar concept to the Danish ‘hygge’?
Yes, we do. We use Hygge or kos/koselig 🙂
