Back to normal, slowly

Things are getting more and more back to normal, and for me that means that things have been a lot busier than they have been during the pandemic. Some of that is due to things being very busy at work. But a lot of it is nice things that is now allowed to do. My hobbies have started up again and tomorrow my brass band have our first little concert of the year.

The weather has been lovely, so I have been out for a couple of nice walks to enjoy the sunshine. This is a thing I was doing before the pandemic and continued to do during and will not stop doing after. It gives a lot of energy and makes sure I move a bit. I have a lovely walk in to and back from work every day. In the wintertime I go out in the morning and, it’s dark, and when I leave the office in the afternoon, it is dark. But now there is sunlight both in the morning and in the afternoon, it is simply fantastic.

A couple Sundays ago I took a trip out to a big garden center to pick up a few plants to brighten up the planters in my garden. It was not much, but it made a big difference. We still had and still have a few frosty nights since then, so I had to get some spring flowers that does not mind a little bit of frost.  There is so much to do in the garden this year, but it feels very much like spring now that I have made a small start. I also got a few plants for indoors when I was there as well, I hope they will last long

Last weekend we had payday drinks at the office for the first time since the start of 2020. And it was very nice. There are so many people that has started since then and it is lovely to meet them, some of them I met for the first time and some it was the first time I met in an informal setting. Some are obviously still the same. After all this time I have not forgotten how to do payday drinks.

How are things with you? Have you been more out and about lately?

  2. “Payday drinks” sounds like a winner for two reasons! Here in Los Angeles, all mask mandates are now off, inside or out…it’s surreal in a way, and we are about 50-50 on who stills masks or not…let’s hope the numbers stay low as the vaccinations slowly increase over 80% here…being so close to a “new normal”, don’t want any sort of relapse! Love your plants and scenery!

    1. You are very right. With a high vaccination rate and few people in hospital we are for the most part open and it feels nice. Those that want to mask up obviously are allowed to. But most people who are vaccinated and have a normal imune system don’t. But Norwegians are famous for not being very close physically in any way. There was a popular meme here saying that “Thank god that the one meters distance thing, is over so we can go back to our usual five”

  3. Glad things are feeling normal for you. We still have a few more weeks (months) before we can think about gardening here. I can’t wait. Stay well. Allan

    1. In the world, maybe not. But for me it is. We have been blessed here with very few deaths. The ongoing war is scary, but apart from contributing to the Ukrainian refugees and checking my stock of Iodene tablets, there is not much to do.

      1. Deaths is real, I lost a few folks and known others sick from it and things will never be the same to me,it feels like Revelations the last days of time, Death, disease, destruction

  4. This is such great news, Maja! I hope you’re not wearing masks too like we are in many of our states now. I’m glad that your garden is starting up too. I’ve never heard of payday drinks but it sounds like a very good idea! Be well! 🙏🏻😎

    1. The masks are not mandetory anymore, you can wear one if you like. But with a high vaccination rate and few people in hospital we are for the most part open

  5. It’s certainly nice to getting back some kind of normalcy. It seems Germany is one of the few countries still having strict rules … your garden center pic makes me want to head out immediately right away and get some spring plants for my balcony as well. Last week was very sunny with 13 degrees Celsius or something like that outside and I couldn’t wait to get outside after home office. Feels so good after all the rain … looking forward to your next everyday adventures, sharing them with us!

    1. Thank you. I was not the most outgoing person before the pandemic, but I have enjoyed the feeling of normallity. Even if I was not among those that felt like I had to give up too much during the pandemic.

  6. It’s nice to see so many people returning to their lives. With the exception of a few months of not being able to go see an occasional movie, the pandemic didn’t change anything in my life. I don’t any medical issues, so I immediately accepted catching and recovering from the virus. 😊

  7. Great to hear!
With working full time and renovating on weekends, I haven’t had time to dwell too much on the pandemic. Although I hear the updates on the news, wear masks, get vaccinated, just get on with it and try to remain positive. 🙂
The only thing that’s not back to ‘normal’ is the volume of travel and flight prices, but we now we have another war, so that’s tragic!
