In Åndalsnes we got the new gondola up to the top of the mountain. It opened this year on the 28th of may. It was really great both going up and down and soaking in the views at the top.

Åndalsnes
When we left the hotel in Molde, quite early in the morning the weather had gone back to being really lovely, sunny and warm. We drove over to the little town of Åndalsnes. And as we waited for the new tourist attraction to open in the morning, we sat down for a cup of coffee… Continue reading Åndalsnes
Atlanterhavsvegen
On our way from Molde to Kristiansund and back, we drove on the Atlantic Ocean Road. The road is a 8.274-kilometer (5.141 mi) long section of County Road 64 that connects the island and municipality of Averøy with the mainland at Eide. The road runs across an archipelago of partially inhabited islands and skerries. In 2009,… Continue reading Atlanterhavsvegen
Kristiansund
When we were staying in Molde we took a day trip up to the town of Kristiansund. This was the furthest north we went on this trip. But this does not mean we were even close to the middle of Norway. The town, formerly spelled Christianssund, was named after the Danish-Norwegian King Christian VI in 1742. The last element of… Continue reading Kristiansund
Molde
From Ålesund we drove to Molde, where we stayed two nights at hotel Seilet, the sail. The weather was not the best so we did not get to enjoy our view as much as we wanted. Molde is called the city of roses and is famous in Norway for it’s jazz festival and football team.… Continue reading Molde
Ålesund
After we had finished our visit to Loen, we got back in the car to drive to a town called Ålesund. Where we spent the night at a nice hotel, that gave us a large room. We wandered around town and had some really good fish and chips and stopped by an irish pub for… Continue reading Ålesund
Loen
After the hike to the glacier, we drove the short stretch to another little place called Loen. Our main objective here was to take the Loen sky lift and enjoy the amazing view from the top. Loen Skylift is an aerial tramway. The cable car climbs 1,011 metres (3,317 ft) to the top of Mount Hoven. There is… Continue reading Loen
Briksdalsbreen
At the end of Oldevatnet, we parked our car in a car park. In beautiful surroundings, the weather being perfect for hiking we decided to walk up to the Briksdal glacier. The hike was quite easy, but the nature around was lovely. The weather having been very dry all summer meant that the waterfalls were… Continue reading Briksdalsbreen
Oldevannet
Our trip the next morning started with us driving to the amazing Oldevatn. The lake with it’s two pools is really a sight to behold and well worth a stop on our way to the next destination. The lake covers an area of 7.9 square kilometres (3.1 sq mi), and has a length of about 12 kilometres… Continue reading Oldevannet
