Last sunday was the Norwegian fastelavn. For all of you who don’t know what this is you can read more here. Basically what it has turned in to, at least for me, is a day to make and eat buns. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that many photos of buns on Facebook or Instagram as this sunday. I did not post any pictures her, but I made some. And I’ll post the photos here instead.

As my family and I are intolerant to milk, in anything but small amounts, it did not seem like a good idea to make the traditional buns with tons of whipped cream and jam. Sure there are good non-milk alternatives, but I like my vanilla cream and jam ones better. And as they don’t have so much cream as the traditional fastelavn-buns you can have more than one. And as my mother can’t eat too much flour I decided to make them with 50% oatmeal flour so that she could taste one too. They where actually very good.
Now it’s soon weekend again. Hope you’ll all have a great one and I’ll round-up this post with saying cheers to you all with a photo from last saturday:

It sounds like a fun event. I love all kinds of breads. How very sweet of you to try to accommodate the dietary needs of everyone. 😊
Thank you it was fun 🙂 Have a nice weekend!

Today it’s fastelavn or bun sunday again and I will be sending some of the day baking and watching the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2017! Happy sunday to all of you.
Happy Fastevlan. Have a bun for me too!
I will!
How fun! I’ve never heard of this event or of these buns. Sounds interesting. So nice of you to accommodate your mom.💖
I think fastelavn is a Scandinavian thing. Hope your weekend was good!
