Cafe in the library
One of the things I tell myself at the beginning of every year that I’m going to make more time to do the things I like. Those things include spending time with friends, eating good food, going for nice walks and reading books. This weekend I got to do just those things. Went out for a few drinks after a nice long walk and a lazy morning on saturday. Sunday we went for breakfast at the cafe that is in the same building as the library. I really like their breakfast and the atmosphere and I really like the library next to it.

As I have mentioned a few times before here and here the redecorated library is really nice and a very enjoyable place to spend some time. There was an article in the paper today saying that the amount of visitors after the redecoration and with the extended opening hours have increased significantly. The decline in borrowing from the library that has been happening over a few years has been turned into a small growth. To a book and culture lover like me this is really good news. Hopefully this will continue to rise.
After the food we went for a good walk by the sea. It was quite windy and rainy, but the fres air and the moving around was really good.

This weekend had been very nice! Friday I went to pick up my bike from my parents place and had dinner with my dad. Before I went out for drinks with some friends. Saturday morning was nice and slow. Went to Renaa by the library for breakfast.

Then I went to see an exhibition of young architects, under 40, at the library. It was very interesting and shoved how you can make sustainable eco-friendly choices in planning new urban or rural areas. There was also a focus on making houses and cottages that would go well with the surroundings.

After this there was some necessary shopping to be done and we met up with some friends for a coffee. The evening was spent watching the football matches between Brazil – Chile and Colombia – Uruguay. The games were both exiting and for the most part entertaining.
Sunday started of quite slow before it was decided to go for a cycling trip in the nice weather. It ended up being quite a long trip that took around three hours, but the sun was shining and it was lovely to be outside the whole day in the sunshine. After this we went for a Coca Cola down by the sea in Stavanger centum at Hansen Hjørnet.
Afterwards I went to practise driving with my dad. I have now installed myself in front of the TV, with a beer, to watch some football. Life truly is wonderful when you get weekends like this!
Hope your weekend has been as good as mine 🙂
This weekend got off to the worst start. On friday it was raining, a lot, I mean they had even sent out a flood warning. So you can probably imagine that this was not the best morning to not find your umbrella. When I got to work I was soaked. Standing there dripping I could not find my access card and figured I had left it at home. The day at work went quite ok, but I guess I was very ready to go home at the end of the day because I left my bag there. As I got home and tried to find my access card I realized it was probably in my bag with my Visa card, at work…. To say I was in the best of moods when I was getting ready to go out for a drink with colleagues would be a lie. The fact that I decided to cut my fringe with bad scissors dd not do much to lighten my mood. Luckily I had a very good time at the bar.
Tasty local beer.
Saturday started on a very different note. The sun was out and I had an accident free morning. As it was the 8th of march I went to a lecture and mingling event in Sølvberget, the house where the library is, with my mother, aunt and cousin. The people speaking had many interesting things to say and I really liked the event. Afterwards we went to the cafe in the same building to get some wine. In the evening I went out with a friend to try a relatively new burger place in Stavanger called Døgnvill (the name can be roughly translate to Jet-lagged). The burgers tasted really great and the milkshake was simply amazing! After this we headed to Martinique for a few beers.
Today has been quite lazy. But I got to see the new apartment some friends of mine just bought, went for a walk, watched some winter sports on TV and probably most importantly I slept in and got some much-needed sleep after a week of not sleeping to well. So despite a very bad start to the weekend it turned out to be a good one 🙂 Hopefully I’ll find my cards in my bag at work tomorrow and all will be well.
After a hectic start to the year I decided that it was about time to have a lazy weekend. To fully recover from my illness. Friday I met some friends for a glass of wine. Saturday I got up to watch some of the winter olympics and wash some clothes to reduce the pile in my laundry basket. The winter olympics was not very fun to watch for a norwegian, but the laundry was wonderful to get out-of-the-way. Now there is room in my laundry basket and I have clean clothes.
after a while I went for a walk and decided that I would go to the library to borrow some books. When I got there where a lot of people, but plenty of space and not as much noise as one would think with that many people. I wanted to try the new Renaa cafe at the library because I’d heard so many nice things about it. And it did not disappoint! I had a wonderful smoothie and a great sandwich that tasted great and was not as expensive as I expected.
Very tasty sandwich and smoothie!
Being able to sit in the library eating a good meal, reading a god book is really something I could get used to. After finding my books I discovered that there was a mini concert and a few people who came to talk about Black Rider, a theatre show that is currently playing at the theatre here in Stavanger. This show has music by Tom Waits and this Saturday there was a tribute concert to him and the band giving this concert was at the library to give us a taste of what they where doing that night. This was a nice surprise for me and made me even more exited to go see the show on Tuesday 🙂
One of many good things happening at the library in Stavanger.
The rest of the day was spent reading and watching TV. Sunday morning came with much of the same as the previous day. Some ups and downs in the winter olympics, but when I went for todays walk the sun was shining and my mood was good. Now I’m going to cheer for the Norwegian biathlon boys and continue to enjoy this weekend.
