Goals for 2018

First day of the new year and I must say that it has started quite well. I started the year by going to bed content with a very relaxed and enjoyable night. This morning I slept in a bit as I had decided to start the year on a slow note. I got to devote quite some time to read some blog posts. I must say that I am glad that my goals this year does not include to spend less time just relaxing with a cup of coffee and discovering new posts and bloggers.

I write this post knowing very well that everything is always changing and that what I have decided my goals are for the year at this stage might change. But I will still post this for two very selfish reasons. Firstly I think it might be easier to work against them if I’m not the only one to know about them. And secondly I want to have them up here so I can review them when I want during the year and at the end of the year to see how the year turned out compared to what I wanted it to be.

My goals:

1. I want to sell my apartment and by a new one

I started this process at the end of last year and I really want something to happen on this front hopefully soon. I am not a very patient person when it comes to things like this and I find the whole process quite stressful. I have already found a place I want to buy, but I need to sell before I can buy. The new place will not be on the marked forever so I really hope something will happen soon.

2. I want to move more and eat a bit healthier.

I know that this is a very common goal for a new year, but this year for me I can feel that it is very necessary. As I spent most of the end of last year being sick my body has been trying to tell me that, as soon as I feel better I should resume my walking and eat less junk and more vegetables. I don’t have a goal to loose x kilos or to stop eating everything nice, but a small change is really needed.

3. I want to learn not to bring stress from work home.

I don’t really have a very good plan for this, but I have been researching some methods for this that seems to work for others. I love my job and I get to do a lot of things I want to do and I always get the opportunity to develop. But there are no signs that 2018 will be any less busy than the previous year, so I need to work on my work life balance in the new year.

4. I want to be better at reaching out to friends and family.

I am not the best person to contact my friends and ask them to get up to something. I find that I am more often the one being asked than the one to ask. That is not because I don’t want to hang out with them. But this year I hope to start turning that around. This will also mean that I hope that I will be better at socializing in the new year.

3. Post more

I want to put up more posts on my blog this year than I did last year. I will not make a goal to post every day, because I don’t have that much to blog about and because I know that I would fail on this very fast. This for me is more about setting goals that I can actually reach. I really enjoy being in the blogging world and when I post it makes me feel good. And we should always strive to do more things that makes us happy.

4. Do one nice things for others at least once a week.

This will include random acts of kindness towards strangers and doing nice things for friends and family. I’m not going to limit it to once a week, I always try to help others, but I will use this goal as a reminder that doing something good for others is also good for yourself. I think doing nice things for others could make you a happier person.

So what about you, what are your goals for the next year?

Happy 2018

Happy New Year to all of you out there! I hope that 2018 will be a great year for all of you.

I have been ending the year on a very good note by going on a very good date night with my better half yesterday. We first een t for a lovely meal. I had traditional lye fish and the man had a steak.

“Lutefisk” lye fish, Norwegian dish with cod stored in lye

After that we went to our favourite cocktail place for a nice drink before we headed to the cinema to catch the latest Star Wars film.

Today we visited family to thank them for the year that passed and give them the best wishes for 2018. This evening we have decided to do a very low key celebrations with tapas bought at a lovely tapas place and good wine. At 24:00 We plan to go up on the terrace on the roof to treet the New Year by looking at the fireworks.

All the best wishes to all of you for the New Year! Happy New Year.

2017 on the thoughts and life of me

2016 was not a very good year on my blog, mostly because there was so much going on at one point that I had to take a quite long break. 2017 has not been less busy, and I have struggled with posting as much as I would have liked. That being said this year has been marginally better in the stats. The things I miss when I am too busy is getting to read all your wonderful posts, an interacting with the wonderful people I have gotten to know in the blogosphere.  As ever I hope that the next year will provide me with more of all the things I love about blogging.

I want to thank everyone that has visited my blog and taken the time to read, like, comment and share my posts. You are what makes blogging enjoyable. I want you all to know that I greatly appreciate all of you.

What was the most popular post on your blog in 2016?

Welcome 2016

2016 was welcomed with a great new years party with good friends. Watching the fireworks, eating good food, drinking bubbly, playing games and enjoying eachothers company into the early hours of the New Year. This resulted in yesterday being quite a quiet day, with breakfast with friends and dinner at my parents house being the only thing happening if you don’t count sitting on the sofa watching tv shows.

I both hope and believe that this year will bring a lot of great things for me and the people I care about.

There are quite a few parties going on around the blog world. If you want to start the new year by meeting new people, read great new post and get your blog out there I would recommend you all to go visit:

Mostly Blogging

Dream Big, Dream Often

Diapers and Tutus

Talk about pop music

The last one of these is a party celebrating the fact that Steve has started a new radio channel and you get a chance to request a song that might get played. Mine did and I must say it was very cool to have your song play on the radio after posting on the party post!

I’m going to get another cup of tea and sit down and enjoy all the parties. Hope that 2016 has a great deal of goodness a head for all of you!

2015 Here I Come

The New Year has come. As ever I have made up my mind that this year is going to be a good one, better than the previous. I have made a few resolutions, that I will probably not manage to make, but that is actually not the point. It is a good way to have a positive outlook on life. If you don’t set out to hope and think that the year that’s coming will be a good one would be quite depressing.

The year has had a promising start. With visit from good friends that doesn’t live close by, so I don’t get to see them very often. But when they’re here it feels like you where never apart. This is going to be a nice lazy weekend. But despite the fact that the new year literally came with a storm, I will go out for a walk and get some fresh air!

Whatever 2015 has in store for me I feel ready to embrace it and I have told myself that it’s very important to make as much lemonade as possible from the lemons life send your way. Regardless of what happens, 2015 I’m yours. Please be good to me and the people I care about.

End of 2014

Another year is coming to an end the year has been filled with a lot of different things. ¬†All in all I feel very lucky to be living in a place like Norway every time I turn on or read the news. There has been a lot of disasters and wars this year an it has me sometimes wondering what the world is coming to. Among other things there is Ukraine, Syria, Gaza a more unstable Russia. More extreme weather, natural disasters, Ebola and a lot of other bad stuff. But it is important to remember that there is a lot of good in this world, and even if there is a lot of bad out there it’s important to live your life and be thankful for the good things and the good people in your life. I hope that 2015 will be a year where the world is more stable but I know that things will not be perfect.

In 2015 I wish I have more time and energy to spend on my friends and family, that I find the time to read more books and that I will have the opportunity to travel to nice and exiting places. I hope I will get better at handling change and that I’ll be better at dealing with the stress that comes my way, both for my own sake and for those closest to me.

I hope 2015 will be a great year for all of you with a lot of good.
